OPTION: DRIVE ONE OR TWO WAYS BETEEN ULAANBAATAR AND KHOVSGOL LAKE
Hovsgol Lake is a huge 2.760 square km alpine lake (130 km in length and 40 km in width), surrounded by mountain chains of more than 2.000 meters high, thick pine forests and lush meadow with grazing yaks and horses. More than 100 small rivers and streams feed the lake with crystal clear water. Water exits the lake through only one river, the Egiin, whose waters eventually reach the Baikal Lake. The lake contains about 1.5% of the world's fresh water (excluding water contained in the icecaps). The lake and rivers are full of fish. Around a dozen species of fish inhabit the lake and rivers. The most well known are the sturgeon, grayling, lennok, salmon, taimon, etc.
Upon arrival at the airport we will be welcomed by your guide. He will bring us to your comfortable, centrally located hotel.
In the afternoon we will stroll around Ulaanbaatar. We will visit the Natural and the Historical Museums.
We will stop at the Gandantegchinlen Monastery. It is the largest and most important monastery of Mongolia. We will scroll through the different monasteries and see the magnificent statue of Migjid Janraisig, an 82-food high statue gilded in gold and covered with silk cloths.

By plane from Ulaanbaatar we will reach Moron, capital city of Hovsgol province. Depending on the arrival time we will stay here for the night or we will go on driving eastwards to our host family.

After breakfast we will start our trekking. We will load our gears on pack horses. During the whole trip we will be supported by horsemen and packhorses. The horsemen will be responsible for the horses and, being from the region, they will be our guides.
We'll start hiking along the Egiin River. During the whole trek we will have time for fishing or swimming. Please bring you fishing equipment.

For four more days we will trek along the Egiin River. On the way we will visit many gers and experience the nomadic life of Central Asia. Our translator will help us to forge contact with the local population.

For three more days, we will ride along the western shore of the Khovsgol Lake enjoying the view over the Mongolian blue pearl.
There is a big chance that we will cross some Tsaatan families settled long the shores of the Khovsgol Lake.

We will have a very long driving day to reach Moron. On the way we will visit the Uushig Deer Stone complex.

Today we will have free day to explore further the town and to shop for souvenirs.
For our last evening we will have a fare well dinner at one of the city's best restaurant.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for departure or connection to another tour in Mongolia
It is possible to drive one or two ways between Ulaanbaatar and Moron. There are two reads, the northern road that takes 3 days and the southern road that takes 5 days. The southern road passes through Karakorum, former capital city of the Mongolian empire.
Except airport transfers, service in Ulaanbaatar are not included in our price. Some people want extra service in Ulaanbaatar some people prefer to discover the capital city on their own. Some people prefer a luxury hotel in Ulaanbaatar, some will be satisfied with a budget accommodation. Others will book their accommodation in Ulaanbaatar by themselves.
